For something truly exceptional to emerge, many good things must come together. For Carroux Caffee, this means excellent green coffees, produced by passionate coffee farmers in Africa, Asia, and South America, tracked down and selected by experienced coffee buyers. Gollücke & Rothfos, a Bremen-based coffee trading company with over 100 years of history and our partner since day one, handles this for us.
Gollücke & Rothfos' coffee experts are at home in more than two dozen coffee regions around the world. They know the coffee cooperatives in the growing areas just as well as the cup profile that distinguishes our coffees. They monitor the harvest cycles and fluctuations, test quality and batches, and source the best Fine Cups for us worldwide.
When the still-green, raw coffee beans arrive at our Hamburg roastery, packed in jute sacks, they smell, depending on the variety and country of origin, of fresh grass, juicy hay, ripe bananas, or old wood – but not of coffee. Those approximately 800 aromas that we describe as typical coffee aromas only develop through roasting and brewing.
For our classic Carroux blend, we combine 80% aromatic Arabica beans and 20% washed Robusta beans, which give our espresso a dense and firm crema. With our light crema roast made from 100% Arabica beans, we delight those who prefer milder roast aromas and crème cafés.
And for those who want to enjoy the full Carroux flavor without the energizing caffeine, we offer a decaffeinated option. We remove the caffeine from our classic espresso blend. No chemicals are used. Only water. For healthy enjoyment, clean production, and full flavor.
Here too, it's the little things that, in total, make a big difference.
